What does freehold zone mean in Dubai

The concept of Freehold literally translated from English means “free possession”.

In the UAE real estate market, this expression implies full ownership of the object.

Important:

The fact is that in Dubai, foreign investors can purchase real estate without restriction of rights only in certain areas. There is also an alternative ownership option - a Leasehold zone, where a foreigner can only rent real estate for 99 years.

In fact, these are the main tourist locations: Dubai Marina, Business Bay, Downtown near Burj Khalifa and others (in total, 54 districts of Dubai belong to free hold areas. The full list is here). But in the coastal parts of Dubai there are few such zones.
