Hungarian residence permit through investment will be launched in January 2024!

Hungary is changing its plans regarding the program for issuing residence permits for investments. Instead of the expected September 2023, the launch of the golden visa program will take place in January 2024. The Hungarian government published this information in the final version of the bill. However, the conditions for obtaining a visa for invited investors remain unchanged.

According to the new rules, the residence permit will be valid for 10 years, and the status can be extended for the same period. One of the benefits of the program is the opportunity to move to Hungary with your family, including your spouse and children. To obtain a residence permit in Hungary for 10 years, investors are offered several options. They can invest at least €250,000 in local real estate funds, purchase residential property in Hungary worth €500,000 or more, or invest at least €1,000,000 in community funds.

From December 20, 2023, Hungary will stop issuing residence permits for the purchase of real estate in Budapest in the amount of €155,000 or more, which means the “golden visa” will remain the only way to obtain resident status in the country under special conditions.

A residence permit in Hungary will provide you with the opportunity to live and work in Europe, as well as freely travel throughout the Schengen countries without the need for a visa. Moreover, children of residents will be able to get an education at European universities without the need for a student visa.
