Now, to join the island's citizen club, foreigners will need to reside in Cyprus for a minimum of 7 years, including a strict final year where they cannot leave the island for more than 90 days. Requirements also include proficiency in the Greek language at the B1 level, a certificate of no criminal record, and proof of a stable income.

They must lawfully reside in Cyprus during the last year, possess high qualifications, be fluent in the Greek language, and demonstrate a stable income. Applications for this privileged group will undergo a thorough examination in an expedited procedure lasting no more than 8 months.
